Cinema Collective is Richmond Film Network’s monthly workshop designed to bring together filmmakers and film-adjacent creatives across all disciplines in a space to connect, exchange ideas, and spark meaningful collaborations in a structured yet welcoming environment.

Each Cinema Collective meeting balances learning, accountability, and relationship-building through a curated format that encourages active participation from everyone in the room.

FORMAT

Each meeting consists of:

  • Presentations

  • Member Check-Ins - guided roundtables where members share who they are, what they do, what support they need, what support they can offer, and one clear goal for the coming month

  • Networking

Presentations are led by RFN members who sign up in advance. Thoughtful, spirited discussion is encouraged—Cinema Collective is as much a learning opportunity for those giving feedback as it is for those receiving it.

Community Values & Environment

Cinema Collective is a safe, respectful space for sharing work and exchanging ideas. Every participant is encouraged to contribute. Cinema Collective is committed to fostering robust conversation in an environment free from harassment, discrimination, sexism, or threatening or disrespectful behavior.

Presenting at Cinema Collective

Members interested in presenting can sign up in advance. Presentation slots are generally scheduled on a first come, first served basis, though final placement may depend on the clarity and completeness of the proposed presentation.

Whether you’re looking to share knowledge, workshop an idea, gain feedback, or simply stay accountable to your creative goals, Cinema Collective is a place to show up, speak up, and move your work forward—together.
